Students enrolled in IB Theatre are learning to become informed, reflective, and critical practitioners of the theatre while developing perceptual and analytical skills. The first year of IB Theatre introduces students to a variety of theorists, playwrights, world cultures, and devising processes. Students will research and explore the processes of transforming ideas into active theatre while beginning to develop skills as a creator, designer, director, and/or performer. IB Theatre 1 students will work closely with the instructor developing techniques and applying their skills to theatre productions and presentations preparing for the IB Theatre 2 expectations. Students enrolled in IB Theatre 2 will become informed, reflective, and critical practitioners of the theatre while developing perceptual and analytical skills. In IB Theatre 2, students will explore theatre in a variety of contexts and understand how these contexts inform and improve their theatrical practice as creator, designer, director, and/or performer. Through exploration of theorists, playwrights, and world culture, students will understand and engage in the processes of transforming ideas into active theatre. IB Theatre students will work collaboratively and independently developing and applying theatre productions, presentations, and performance skills for a variety of audiences.
