IB History will explore World War I, the Great Depression, World War II, Cold War, and many other 20th century conflicts up to the Gulf War in 1991. Two in-depth case studies will explore the United States Civil Rights Movement and Apartheid in South Africa. HL students will be required to learn about in-depth topics related to the “History of the Americas”. One of the main areas of focus in this course is to develop historical thinking pertaining to significant questions about the past, interpret the significance of conflict, and draw conclusions from a wide variety of resources. This course demands a significant amount of outside of class reading to prepare for in-class essay assessments.
